User Roles

An important part of Mohive’s workflow functionality is being able to create groups and assign roles. Mohive enables customers to customise the user roles within their system, ensuring they are able to map Mohive’s workflow to their own internal processes.

As a default, Mohive provides customers with four user roles, which grant users a varying degree of control and access to the Mohive system. The roles include:

Editor

Editors are able to guide and manage the creation of e-learning. Editors can initiate projects and modules, assign users to these projects, create reference groups, and move courses through the various stages of the workflow (planning, authoring, quality assurance and publishing).

Editors are typically Instructional Designers or training experts. They help oversee the planning and creation of e-learning.

Author

Authors are typically Subject Matter Experts who create the actual course. They work with the editor to plan courses, then, using the course framework that was created, they create the e-learning course using the authoring functionality within Mohive.

Reference Group

Reference groups- typically fall into three categories:

Reference user group - A sampling of the target audience takes the course and provides feedback to ensure the course is effective.

Marketing Communications - Review e-learning courses to ensure brand and messaging consistency.

Legal - Provide compliance or regulatory review, ensuring courses meet with corporate and legal guidelines

Reference groups can review courses and provide comments, but are not able to use Mohive to create or edit e-learning content.

Graphic Designer

This role is unique in that it does not involve planning or creating content, but instead deals with the management of design templates and the overall look-and-feel of the e-learning courses created.

Mohive includes a Design Template SDK, which allows companies to create a custom, branded look and feel for their e-learning courses. The graphic designer user can then upload and install the new design template and apply it to the appropriate courses.

This role can be combined with the media asset administrator, ensuring all graphical elements are consistent and adhere to corporate design guidelines.
