Jenni Reid is part of the People & Performance team from the Australian based Promina Group. Here, she shares her experiences developing content with the Mohive eLPS.
1. How many people are typically involved in e-learning development?
For any given project, usually around four.
2. What processes do you use to enable them to work together effectively?
We use all forms of communication including meetings, phone conferences and email correspondence. This ensures check points are maintained throughout the project and all goes according to plan.
3. How long have you been creating courses using Mohive?
A little over two years.
4. What software did you use previously to Mohive?
Saba Publisher.
5. What type of courses do you create?
We are a large organisation operating in the financial services sector so the majority of our courses focus on compliance, general induction training or product training.
6. And how long are the courses you create?
Courses generally range from 20 minutes up to 40 minutes with a handful stretching to hour.
7. From getting started to uploading into the LMS, how much time does an average course take to craft?
Approximately 3 - 5 weeks, depending on the length of the course and speed of reviewing.
8. What aspect of the Mohive system do you find most helpful?
The Quality Assurance capability is really great as it allows feedback to be easily gathered from multiple reviewers and collated into one easy to read document.
The aspect we really like about Mohive is the variety of templates available to help with content development. Simply 'fill in' the template and the content appears on the page.
9. Which Mohive templates do you find particularly effective for the type of courses you develop and what features make them your preferred choice?
Firstly, the flexi template is very versatile and is used quite often. The ability to use the 'build' feature to show / hide different features on the page makes it one of our favourites.
Secondly, the multi-choice template makes developing assessments simple and delivers highly user-friendly material for learners.
10. What tip have you discovered that you would like to share with other Mohive users?
Reusability is a key benefit of using Mohive. Once a course has been developed it can be copied and pasted to create a new or slightly different version. This allows the revised version to be tweaked and updated, rather than starting to build from scratch.
